Short light path cells are accommodated within the LOV by adjusting the distance between the ends of the optical fibers. The long light path cell, which can be extended to 50 cm, is a novel construction designed by Garth Klein. The light path of Garths cell is constructed from green PEEK
(I.D. 0.8mm, 5 μL/cm) or from orange PEEK Tubing (I.D. 0.5mm, 2 μL/cm). The light is launched into the tubing by the centered quartz fiber optics of a suitable diameter.
Note that the long light path flow cell is not a liquid core waveguide it is a collimator and therefore robust and easily replaceable.
